Gota Canal - Östergötland

This great Swedish waterway took 22 years to build and was opened 1832. The east part between Motala by Lake Vättern and Mem at the Baltic has 37 locks and goes through the Lakes Boren, Roxen and Asplången. It’s peaceful to ride along Göta Kanal. The Kanal is lined with great deciduous trees and meander trough Woods and opened landscape. Along Göta Kanal you bike on the towpath, which is car free, and practically without slopes and round the Lakes.
