Discover the Göta Canal by bike and boat for three days.
The package includes a day cruise on Göta Kanal from Töreboda to Sjötorp including lunch on board. You stay two nights at Pensionat Prästgården (hotel standard) in Töreboda and you eat dinner at Prästgården's cozy Garden Café. Convenient to not have to carry your luggage and easy to get to the starting point by train.
You can enjoy your cycling holiday on the completely car-free traditional towpath along the Göta Canal to Tåtorp, where the canal empties into Lake Viken.
Enjoy beautiful nature and imagine 200 years back in time, that was when this fantastic building was started and finally inaugurated in 1832.

Day 1
Töreboda - Sjötorp - Töreboda (bike ride 40 km)
The cycling holiday starts from Töreboda, perfect if you arrive by train. From there you pedal along the Göta canal past 16 locks to Sjötorp by Lake Vänern. In Sjötorp, lunch is served at Café Baltzar by the harbor basin. To find out a little more about how the canal was built, you get entry to the canal museum, which is located by Sjötorp's harbour. When you get wind of it, you turn the bike ride back towards Töreboda. You stay at Pensionat Prästgården (hotel standard) in Töreboda and dinner is served in Prästgården's Garden Café. Enjoy in the lovely garden or, if the weather doesn't permit, settle down in the familiar restaurant.Day 2
Töreboda - Sjötorp - Töreboda (boat trip about 5 hours)
Today is the time to experience Sweden's largest construction project from one of the historic canal boats M/S Bellevue. The boat departs from Töreboda at 10.30 and ends in Sjötorp, where the Göta canal flows into Lake Vänern. The first locks in Hajstorp are soon passed and a total of 16 locks are passed on the way to Sjötorp. Thanks to the canal, Sjötorp's community has grown up and here there are no less than 8 locks. With the help of the locks, the canal rises 20 meters above Lake Vänern's surface. Göt a canal flows through a forest landscape out onto open land, where it is often at a higher level than the surrounding fields. Leafy avenues are planted on the side embankments, which contributes to the canal district's unique landscape. During the boat cruise on M/S Bellevue, lunch is served while the captain guides you through the history and natural experiences of Göta Kanal. The boat moves forward at a speed of 5 knots, so all you have to do is sit back and enjoy one of Sweden's most famous buildings. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at Pensionat Prästgården.Day 3
Töreboda - Tåtorp - Töreboda (bike ride 34 km)
After a good breakfast, it's time to cycle south along the Göta Canal. Today the bike ride continues towards Tåtorp and finally back to Töreboda. On the way you pass Wassbacken and then the island Lanthöjden where you can visit the seven meter high obelisk which marks the canal's highest land point at 91,5 m above sea level. Continue the wonderful trip to beautiful Tåtorp, here the Göta canal empties into Lake Viken. In Tåtorp you can visit one of the canal's two hand-operated locks. This lock was built in 1814 and is a level lock, it regulates the water level between the canal and Lake Viken and has a drop of 0,2 meters. The packed lunch is enjoyed in a scenic location along the tour. When you feel satisfied for the day, you cycle back to Töreboda.2 overnight stays at Pensionat Prästgården (hotel standard)

It is easy to take the train to Töreboda. The western main line between Gothenburg-Stockholm passes Töreboda with several stops here.
Walking distance about 500 meters from the Railway Station to Pensionat Prästgården where the starting point for the cycling holiday is.
By car: From Gothenburg about 20 km, estimated to take about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Road E20 and from Mariestad highway 202.
From Stockholm about 30 km, estimated to take about 3 hours and 15 minutes. Road E18 / E20 and from Hova highway 200.
You park the car at your place of residence. If you stay at a B&B you park next to it, if you stay at Pensionat Prästgården you park in their car park.
Free parking.
We recommend that you start the bike ride between 10-12. If you have a long way to travel, feel free to book an extra night.
