Borensberg - Ljungsbro (Bergs Slussar) bike ride 20 km
At the Kaffeteriet in Borensberg, you pick up your bikes. The tour takes you on the old car-free towpaths along the Göta canal. This is where the oxen had to help pull the boats forward. Here you follow the canal bank all the way to lake Roxen and Bergs Slussar. Bergs Slussar is a spectacle in itself, take your time to just sit and enjoy. The lock staircase in Berg consists of 7 locks, a fantastic spectacle and a fantastic building. You check in at Ljungsbro hostel, which is 3 km away. from Bergsslussar. At Ljungsbro hostel you have access to a relaxation area with a hot tub and sauna as well as a swimming pool.Day 2
Bergs Slussar - Borensberg (boat cruise approx. 3,5 hours)
After you have eaten breakfast, it is time to cycle to Bergs Slussar and board the passenger boat M / S Wasa Lejon which departs at 10.00. You leave the bike at the tourist information at Bergs Slussar. With M / S Wasa Lejon you get to experience one of the most beautiful parts of the Göta Canal. The boat cruise runs between Berg - Borensberg and offers a breathtaking experience from the start. It is an impressive lock staircase that at first glance seems impossible to climb. The journey continues through a living countryside with houses and manors from the 1700th and 1800th centuries. The boat glides along avenues of stately deciduous trees. In total, you pass nine locks, including Östergötland's only hand-operated lock. During the tour you also get a very special experience when the boat passes over the aqueducts in Ljungsbro and Borensberg. Lunch is enjoyed on board while the boat glides forward at 5 knots. The boat arrives in Borensberg around 13.30. We recommend that you take an excursion to the capital of the Göta Canal, Motala. Here is the Göta Canal exhibition "From idea to reality". You will find the exhibition in one of the two pavilions next to the canal in the area of Old Motala Workshop, between Borenshult's locks and Motala guest harbor in Lake Vättern. The exhibition shows how Baltzar von Platen took the 300-year-old idea of building a waterway across Sweden and realized it by building the Göta Canal. Here you get to meet the people who made it possible to build the channel and the technology they used.1 overnight stay at Ljungsbro leisure center incl. bed linen & towel (toilet in the room & shower in the corridor).
